Professor Peter HUXLEY, Professor of Social Work, Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London, UK

Professor Peter Huxley is the first Professor of Social Work in King’s College London, taking up his post at the Institute of Psychiatry in 1999. In 2003 he became the Director of the Social Care Workforce Research Unit (the former NISW unit) in the International Policy Institute in the School of Social Science and Public Policy in King’s College London. He has an international reputation in the field of social care and mental health for his work on common mental disorders and the pathway to care, quality of life measurement, the integration of health and social care, the social care workforce, and the measurement of social inclusion.

Professor Xiu-Lan ZHANG,
Professor and Director, Institute of Social Development and Public Policy, Beijing Normal University, CHINA

Professor Xiu-Llan Zhang obtained her Ph.D degree in social welfare from the University of California at Berkeley, USA. She is Professor and Director of the Institute of Social Development and Public Policy and the Director of Anti-poverty policy and research in Beijing Normal University. Dr. Zhang holds a visiting professorship at the Institute for Health & Aging, University of California at San Francisco, USA. Currently, she is the national lead expert in social assistance, a member of the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, the Director of Social Safety Net Research Base and one of the New Century Leading Social Scientists of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. She has provided consultancy to the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, the World Bank, UNICEF, DFID, and other agencies.
